Damage Control.


You can always tell when the poll numbers take a sharp downward turn. The President's media advisors inevitably turn to Kabuki to try to contain the political damage. So it was yesterday with President Obama's "dressing down" of his national security team.

Prediction: no one will be fired. That's when you know it's Kabuki.

Doomsday.

Predictions of imminent demise used to be the domain of wackos and wing-nuts. Now it's the domain of some of the best financial minds and some of the most thoughtful people in the United States. Not a good sign.

Connecticut Senate

Sen. Chris Dodd's (D-CT) decision not to seek re-election greatly increases his party's chances of holding his seat. CT Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will be the Democratic US Senate nominee and he is, hands down, the best vote-getter in the state.
