We Will Do Less of What We're Doing By Doing More Of It

The ceaseless stream of pop-up ads on AOL is but one of many reasons to jettison the service. Last October, the company promised to curtail the onslaught, in a much ballyhooed press release. What the company didn't say was that it would increase the number of in-house pop-up ads.

Let's see. We have a company in serious trouble. It has a hard-earned reputation for dishonesty and dissembling. And the company's response to this state of affairs is to lie about the most visible annoyance of its service? Did they think no one would notice?
