Random Thoughts on the PGA.

I imagine that Tiger was sort of rooting for Padraig Harrington to par the final hole, so that Harrington would have sole possession of second place. Had Harrington finished at 4-under par, Tiger would have had the pleasure of Harrington's company in Saturday's final pairing. Tiger obviously enjoys playing with Harrington and has made it clear (in press interviews) that he holds the Irishman in high regard.

Tiger just as clearly feels no such warmth or admiration for Vijay Singh, with whom he is now paired for tomorrow's round. Might we get grumpy Tiger as a result? Ellisblog thinks so. Might this affect, negatively, Tiger's performance tomorrow? We'll see! Time will tell! I can't think of any more cliches.

Elsewhere in the news, it's great to see Ernie Els back on form. Look for Ben Curtis to make a move tomorrow. Also keep an eye on Geoff Ogilvey, whose game is almost perfectly suited for this golf course. If he can get some putts to fall early, he can fly up the leaderboard. Finally, Ellisblog fave Jim Furyk made the cut. Barely. But he made it.
